Intimacy with God
God created us with a deep desire. This desire is to have an intimate relationship with Him. When this desire is fulfilled we would have a satisfied life.
We were created to have an intimate relationship with God; we only cheat ourselves by not being intimate with God. God desires to be intimate with us. He enjoys being with us and wants to have a love relationship with us. He is a great and loving God. He is always ready to listen and respond. God is slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness and He desires the best for His children.

God has always desired to be very close with each person on earth. In the beginning the bible says that Adam and Eve use to communion or walk and talk with God in the cool of the day. When Adam and Eve sinned spiritual death occurred and this destroyed the transparent relationship between humans and God. The only alternative to relationship is law. However God still craved for this transparent relationship with Adam and Eve. So Jesus came to pay the penalty of sin and help restore close communion with God. Currently God calls everyone to freely come to Him and develop a close relationship with Him, the creator of the world. God is calling you by name to draw close to Him and He would draw close to you. Throughout the bible, God reveled himself to those who had a close relationship with Him. “The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Exodus 33:11a. Abraham was also described as God’s friend. Most of the psalms written by David depict David’s desire for the Lord. The more intimate we are with God, the more we love Him. We must remember that knowing about the Lord is different from knowing Him. Knowing about the Lord focus on your knowledge or information about Him, this is more of an academic pursuit. Knowing the Lord however involves a personal relationship with Him.
How to have an intimate relationship with the Lord
Prayer: You cannot know someone you don’t spend time with. Like every other relationship, communication is a vital part. God desires to talk to you through prayer. Prayer must develop into a two-way communication where you speak to the Lord and He speaks to you. This means we must learn to hear God’s voice. We can speak to the Lord about anything. Please remember this when you pray: The bible says in Hebrews 4:11, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”. This means we must approach God with confidence and boldness. Prayer must be frequent. Go to the Lord continuously and frequently. Just go to the Lord in prayer He would give you strength. Where the presence of the Lord is, the power of the Lord is available. For in His presence is His power. The power of God can overcome our weakness and problems.
Study God’s Word: John 15:7 reads, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” The word of the Lord must abide in us. Reading the bible should be habitual and based on God given understanding· Meditate and study God’s word. Memorize scripture.
We must obeying and desiring the Lord like our greatest treasure. Proverbs 3:32b “for the crooked man is an abomination to the Lord; But He is intimate with the upright”. Matthew 22:37 also reads "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' Sin can affect our relationship with God. Making a conscious effort to please the Lord can deepen our relationship with Him.
John 17:3 “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent”. The Greek word used for ‘know’ is ‘ginoskso’ means to be involved in an intimate growing relationship.
