The bible is a blueprint for living a fulfilled life. The key to prosperity and success is obeying God’s word. Joshua 1:8, “keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful’’.

Psalm 1:1-3, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers”.

Meditating on God’ law day and night is important from the scriptures above. When reading the bible, we must trust in God to give us understanding and try to see how applicable the word is in our lives. Obey every aspect of the law of God; for this is the secret to blessings. Do not choose to obey some of the commandments and leave out others, James 2:10 says “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it”. It is unwise to obey part of the law and disobey part is like disobeying all God’s commands. James 1:22 admonishes, ‘’Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says’’. God’s word is needed to spiritually grow. 1 Peter 2:2 reads “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation’’.

Kings in the Old Testament of the bible were required to write and keep a copy of God’s law. Deuteronomy 17:18-19 reads “When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees”. Knowing God’s word is also a prerequisite for overcoming temptation. David said in Psalm 119:10-11 “with my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, which I might not sin against you”. God’s word must form an integral part in our lives in our quest to overcome temptation.”
